Annual Cider Run / S track race series This weekend ELKT is hosting two Fall Classic events. Saturday the 8th will be the Annual Cider Run. The Saturday $20 practice fee will enter you into the event. This will be a timed event where the drivers time will start when they take the green flag at the start / finish line, the driver then tries to stop inside a donut drawn somewhere on the track. If they are lucky and stop inside the hole of the donut they only have to eat one cinnamon donut and down a glass of cider. If they stop on the donut they have to eat one and a half donuts with the glass of cider. If things really go wrong and the driver stops outside of the donut then the driver has to eat two cinnamon donuts and finish a glass of cider. After all the eating and drinking the driver then continues on to the finish line. Classes will be separated into Kid Karts, Jr Sportsman, Jr.’s and finally Seniors. Gates open at 8AM, practice starts at 9AM and Cider Run starts at noon. Sunday the 9th will see the return of the S track. Not only will the S track return but a three weekend race series where winner takes all has been scheduled. Starting Sunday September the 9th and running the following two weekends ELKT host races on the legendary S track. On the 9th ELKT will hold a 3 lap “qualifying” session to set the starting lineup for the start of the 8 lap pre-final. Finishing order of the pre-final will set the grid of the 12 lap final. Gates open at 8AM, practice starts at 9AM and qualifying starts at noon. The following week October 16th, the racers will run an 8 lap heat race where the starting order is set by inverting the finishing order of the previous weekend final. Autolite Spark Plug Gran Prix First and foremost I can’t express enough what a class act the representatives from Autolite Spark Plugs were this past weekend. They had a booth set up showcasing their current and prototype products, Autolite swag galore…pens, plugs, Sharpies, hats, technical brochures, DVD’s and for the Racers beautiful trophies. Thanks Jay and the Crew (Chris & Chuck), I hope you had a good time at the track. The day started off with Stephen Knight taking the checkers in the Kid Kart class. Carter Mezines was second with Will Kushner finishing third. Emily Hutmacher still holds a 326 point lead over Stephen Chase Rosebraugh was smiling ear to ear with his first ever Feature Win at the ELKT. He held off a hard charging Tyler Woods who had won both Heat races. Finishing third was Ben Kushner. Tyler Woods hold a nearly 300 point lead in the class over Ben Kushner. Yamaha Jr Sportsman was the next class out on the track and what a battle this class had. Alex Frazier won the first heat and Sheldon Mills took the second heat. In the feature it was Sheldon Mills chasing down Alex and passing him in turn 6. This is Sheldon’s first Feature Win and if I’m not mistaken his first Heat win. Tyler Holton rounded out the top three. Alex Frazier with his second place finish takes the points lead by 52 points over Justin Hutmacher and a 94 points lead over Alexander Lozano. The next class to take the track was the Yamaha Jr SuperCan. Justin Kirinovic got back on the winning trail with sweeping both the Heat races and the Feature. Cameron Caron finished second and Kevin Jacobs finished third. In the Yamaha Sr SuperCan division it was Tyler King also doing the triple, sweeping both Heat races and the Feature. Mark Goss placed second and Stephanie Geare rounded out the podium. With Tyler’s win it moves him to within 3 points, yes that’s right 3 points behind Mark Goss. Stephanie Geare is a mere 65 points out of first. Keith Bowerman and Shelby Kushner split the Heat races with Shelby taking the first heat race and Keith taking the second.  But it was Keith that ended up taking the win with Shelby finishing second and John McKenzie finishing third. Keith lead the points standing with 1329, Shelby is in second 516 points back. Nick Cappa is a mere 23 points back of second. In the Tag Masters Cory French took a Heat win and the Feature, Mike Tracy and Mark Goss finished second and third respectively. Mark Goss leads this class with 1450 points followed by Mike Tracy at 1111 points and Ilytd Geare is in third with 908 points. TAG Light saw some heated racing in the Feature between Justin LaFollette and Tommy Collins II. Justin and Tommy also split the Heat races. In the Feature it was Justin taking the win but was later penalized for incidences occurring during the cool down lap. This moved Tommy Collins II to first, Tommy Collins III to second and John McKenzie to third. That’s the Bear Facts.  Please keep in mind that this upcoming weekend trophy sponsor is Brock Motorsports |
